I’m a huge proponent of women’s empowerment and am such a believer that women should support women. If you follow me on instagram, you’ve seen me mention Melanin Movement LA, an organization some of my blogger friends and I created to recognize and uplift women of color. I’m happy to tell you guys about another amazing community of women I’ve joined: the Bridging the Gap Campaign! The purpose of this campaign is to “bridge the gap” between women in different stages of life. Whether you’re a 20 something that’s still trying to figure it all out or a 60 something with an abundance of life experiences, we can all learn something from each other. Through this campaign, I had the privilege of connecting with Amy Clark of WomenSharingWisdom.net. I’m so excited to tell you guys about her blog and what I’ve learned from connecting with her!
Amy’s blog WomenSharingWisdom.net is just that, a space where women from all walks of life can talk about topics close to their hearts, seek advice, and give direction. She recognizes that as women, we are often the members of the family that keep everything together, and with that great responsibility grows knowledge and understanding that should be shared. Amy and her circles of women meet monthly to discuss specific topics, and the heart of those conversations are captured in her blog posts. There is so much great content on Amy’s site, but the topic that most stuck out to me was “Letting Go.” In this post, Amy shares a gem from author and spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle:
We often create and hold on to problems because they give us a sense of identity, but letting go is the path to find your truest self.
That really resonates with me! I can personally think of more than a couple problems that take up space in my brain and hinder some of my relationships. To motivate her readers to let go of their baggage, Amy shares this amazing tip: “[letting go] creates an expansiveness and an opening to many more of life’s possibilities.”
You might be wondering why a fashion blogger is talking about a blog that doesn’t have anything to do with fashion, and that’s a great question! For me, fashion and style have the power to uplift and make a person feel good about themselves. But, if we are too focused on how we look and don’t spend enough time being introspective, we are doing ourselves a great disservice. I’ve been toying around with the idea of incorporating inspirational posts on my blog where I can address topics like anxiety and letting go, and Amy’s nuggets of wisdom have definitely motivated me to do so.
In addition to her blog, Amy posts inspiring, thought provoking words of wisdom each day on instagram:@womensharingwisdom. Her aim is to connect and remind readers to tap into the love, joy, gratitude, peace and harmony that abounds within each of us – in spite of what’s happening in the world around us!
On a personal note, Amy is a mom of 2 daughters—one a newly engaged teacher living in NYC and the other a freshman in college studying songwriting. Amy has studied holistic health and healing for over 30 years and wearing a different hat, works to educate women and their families about how to eradicate toxic chemicals from their bodies and their homes.
I encourage you all to check out her blog, join in on the conversation and think about what it means to bridge the gap in your own lives!
